Programmable vs Supademo: which to choose

Choose Supademo for step-by-step interactive guides at scale, across support, training and sales, including branching and web, desktop and mobile capture. Choose Programmable when you want a short animated film and brand assets rather than a guided click-through of a real screen.

Who each is for

Supademo calls itself an AI-native interactive demo platform, and says 200,000+ professionals use it. Its homepage speaks to customer success, learning and development, HR, sales and marketing. That spread tells you the core use: showing someone how to do a thing, step by step, as often as you need to. A help centre full of guided walkthroughs is a natural fit.

Programmable starts from a different question. Rather than "how do I show each step?", it asks "how do I explain this product in 30 seconds and have it look like our brand?" It makes animated films, then the graphics, decks and logos around them. It does include a click-through, but that's a by-product of a film, not the main event.

If you're writing training or support content, Supademo is closer to what you want. If you're writing a homepage or a launch, Programmable is.

Where Supademo is better

  • Volume of guides. Free already includes 5 interactive demos and 50 video recordings, with unlimited views. A team writing many guides will get further here.
  • Depth of demo. Branching, variables and sandboxes let viewers follow their own path. Programmable's click-through is one line from start to finish.
  • Capture range. Desktop apps for Mac and Windows, plus mobile flow capture, go further than a browser extension. Programmable's extension covers web pages in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc, and has to be installed from a zip for now.
  • Editable clones. Its homepage describes guided demos built as editable HTML clones or from screenshots. Programmable has no HTML capture.
  • Training and CRM. SCORM tracking in an LMS, and syncs to HubSpot and Salesforce, suit teams who report on completion. Programmable has no LMS tracking, and its dependable CRM route is a webhook.
  • AI for demos. AI Command handles voiceover and translation on paid plans, and voice cloning is listed on Growth. Programmable's voiceover offers 6 AI voices and no cloning.

Where Programmable is better

  • An animated film. Your real screens animated with motion, captions and optional narration, for 15 to 60 seconds. It's meant to be watched, not stepped through. See how product demos work here.
  • On-brand by default. A brand kit read from your website sets the colours, fonts and logo for every film and graphic.
  • A team flat fee. Each plan includes members: 3 on Starter, 10 on Pro, 25 on Studio. Supademo's Scale plan is charged per creator, so at 10 creators the annual rate comes to $380 a month, against $79 for Programmable Pro. They don't do the same work, so check the job first.
  • The rest of the launch. Social graphics in every size, a deck and a logo are part of the same plan, and so are marketplace components.
  • Starts from a sentence. With no screens, it can rebuild your product as illustrative UI. That helps before a feature ships.

Supademo offers a 14-day trial of paid plans with no card, and its Free plan has no end date. Its creator pricing charges the people who make demos, not those who view them. Programmable's plans are limited by credits instead, and a typical film uses about 63. Current figures are on the pricing page.

How to decide

Think about how many things you'll make and who will use them.

  • Dozens of how-to guides, updated often: Supademo. A 60-second limit makes Programmable the wrong tool.
  • Onboarding or training that needs completion tracking: Supademo.
  • Desktop or mobile apps to capture: Supademo.
  • A few demos with paths for different buyers: Supademo, on Scale or above.
  • One strong film for a homepage or launch: Programmable.
  • A small marketing team that also needs graphics and decks: Programmable.

Still unsure about format? Demo video or interactive demo sets out when each works, and a low-risk test is to make the same flow in both. Supademo's Free plan and Programmable's trial will each cover it.

Moving between them

Neither side offers a direct import that we could find.

Going to Programmable, you can reuse what you have. Supademo's FAQ lists MP4 export, and an MP4 up to 200 MB can be uploaded so the key screens are pulled out. Screenshots also work, up to 8 at a time. A long guide won't fit, so pick the 4 to 8 moments that tell the story.

Going to Supademo, recapture the flow with its extension or desktop app, so its editor has real steps to work with. Programmable's film isn't a useful source for that, but its screens are. Keep the film as an intro at the top of the page.

Common questions

Can Programmable replace Supademo for customer training?

Usually not. It has a 60-second limit, no branching and no LMS tracking. It's useful for a short welcome clip at the start of a course, and not much beyond that.

Does Supademo make animated videos?

Its pages describe a screen and camera recorder, and demos exported as GIF or MP4. We didn't find it describing animated brand films from screenshots. Try exporting a demo to see whether the result suits your use.

Which is quicker for one simple click-through?

Probably Supademo, because recording the flow is its first step. On Programmable, you make a product demo first, then share it as an interactive demo from the Share panel.
