Social clips from your blog or RSS feed
Point Programmable at an RSS or Atom feed, or a GitHub repository's releases, and each new post becomes a brief you can turn into a short social clip. Watching a feed is for paid plans only, from Starter up, and you post the clips yourself.
Who this is for
This is for a team that already publishes, such as a blog, a newsroom or a changelog, and wants a clip for each post without opening an editor each time. It helps most when you post regularly and the posts are worth a viewer's fifteen seconds.
If you have no feed, or you want one clip for one post, you don't need this. Paste the post's link into an ordinary animation, which also works on the trial.
What you start from
- An RSS or Atom feed from a blog, newsroom or changelog. It must be at a public address.
- A GitHub repository address, for its releases.
- A paid plan. The trial can't add a feed. Starter, Pro and Studio all can, on credits or with your own AI key.
Check what your feed carries. A clip is written from the post's text in the feed, so a feed with one-line excerpts gives the studio little to work with. Publish full text if you can.
What happens, step by step
- Go to Publish › Feeds and choose Watch a feed.
- Pick the source and paste its address.
- Choose a preset (see the table below).
- Decide whether to turn on Auto-generate with managed AI.
- Publish as normal. Only posts published after you add the feed count, so your archive isn't touched.
- New posts appear under New posts as Ready to animate, or as Queued for auto-generate if that's on.
- Open a post, review the brief if you want to change it, and animate it.
- Export the clip, then post it yourself.
Feeds are checked hourly by default. A workspace can watch up to 10 feeds, and one check creates at most 5 new briefs. Any others in that check are marked as seen, so a large batch of posts won't all become clips.
| Preset | Shape | Length | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portrait social clip | 3:4 | 18 s | Blog posts for feeds |
| Landscape story | 16:10 | 30 s | Longer articles |
| Launch clip | 9:16 | 12 s | One clip per release, with a bold line and the top changes |
If you watch release notes, read video release notes from your changelog.
What you get
Each clip is a normal animation in your library. Use Export › Social media: every platform for a pack framed for each place, either at full resolution or rebuilt for each platform's shape. This runs in the background, and the download is kept for a day.
| Platform | Shape and size | Usual length |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok, Reels, Shorts | 9:16, 1080 × 1920 | 15 s |
| Instagram and Facebook feed | 4:5, 1080 × 1350 | 15 s |
| 1:1, 1080 × 1080 | 30 s | |
| X | 16:9, 1920 × 1080 | 15 s |
| YouTube | 16:9, 1920 × 1080 | 60 s |
Text is kept clear of the areas a platform's own buttons and captions cover. You can also add AI voiceover and burned-in captions, so the clip still works with the sound off.
Clips don't post themselves. Unless your workspace has Connections turned on, you download the file and upload it to each platform.
What it costs
| Plan | Price a month | Credits | Feeds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | No card | 120, once | Not available |
| Starter | $29 | 350 a month | Up to 10 |
| Pro | $79 | 1,000 a month | Up to 10 |
| Studio | $199 | 2,500 a month | Up to 10 |
A typical directed film uses about 63 credits and a draft usually under 15. Each animated post uses credits, so work out your rate before you turn on auto-generate. A blog with two posts a week makes about nine a month. At draft cost, that fits easily in Starter. At directed cost, it would come to about 570 credits, which needs Pro. That sum is our arithmetic from the typical figures, and short clips can differ.
Auto-generate only runs on Programmable's AI, because your own key isn't kept available for background work. With your own keys, new posts wait as Ready to animate. If your credits run out, a queued post goes back to ready and nothing further is charged. See Animations from your feed and plans.
When another route is better
- You want to cut clips from a talk or podcast. We animate from text. We don't edit footage or audio.
- You want scheduling and posting across every network. Use your social scheduler, and upload the files there.
- You post rarely. A plan just for feeds isn't worth it for one post a month. Paste the link when you need to.
- Your feed is behind a login. The studio can only read public addresses.
A brief you can paste
For a one-off clip with no feed, paste this with your post's link.
"Turn this blog post into a 15-second vertical clip for LinkedIn and Reels: [link]. Open with the most surprising line in the post, not the title. Keep it to three short points. Use our brand colours and burned-in captions. End with: Read the full post on our blog."
Common questions
Can I try feeds on the trial?
No, watching feeds needs a paid plan from Starter up. You can test the result on the trial by pasting one post's link into a normal animation.
Can I approve each clip before it's used?
Yes. A clip made in the background waits in your library until you export or share it, and nothing is posted for you. With auto-generate off, nothing is made until you open the post.
Will it turn my old posts into clips?
No. Posts that exist when you add a feed are the baseline, and only later ones appear. For an older post, paste its link into a new animation.
Does it work with GitHub releases?
Yes. Choose GitHub releases / changelog and paste the repository address. The Launch clip preset is designed for this and makes one 12-second clip per release.
