Credits, plans and the trial
How the trial, monthly plans, top-ups and credits work when Programmable provides the AI.
There are two ways to pay for the AI: credits, where we provide it, or your own AI keys on a BYOK plan. This article covers credits. For your own keys, see Bring your own AI keys.
The trial
A new account gets trial credits for one film once you verify your email, with room for the chat, research or a revision around it. No card is needed. Every studio feature is included. Bringing your own key needs a paid plan.
Plans
The Starter, Pro and Studio plans each add credits every month and include every feature. Every plan can be paid monthly or yearly; yearly costs ten months' price for twelve, and a yearly credits plan adds the whole year's credits when you pay. Current prices and credit amounts are on the pricing page.
In a team workspace, each plan also includes a number of members. See Seats.
Top-ups
You can buy a credit top-up during the trial or on any plan, from Settings › Usage. Plan and top-up credits never expire.
How credits are charged
Each run is charged at what the AI actually cost, plus a margin, in credits. The studio shows an estimate before you run something, holds it when the run starts, and settles it to the real cost when it ends; any unused hold is released. A directed film uses the most, a draft much less, and revisions, chat and research a few. If a run can't finish, you keep its best version and pay only for the AI it used.
Settings › Usage shows your balance, what things cost and your recent activity.
Daily limits
There is a daily limit on credit spending and on chat, to keep the service fair. If you reach it, the studio tells you. Your own AI keys on a BYOK plan have no daily limit.
Earn credits
Settings › Earn has your referral link. When someone signs up with it and verifies their email, you both get credits, up to a monthly limit. You can also join the affiliate programme to earn cash instead. See Referrals and the affiliate programme.
